Here are the current point totals after round number 3.
BB#2 Standings Here are the updated points standing after round number two of the Battle at the Beach Series.
Round three of the very popular JConcepts Supercup series brought us to the very historic Lake Park track located in Tampa Florida. In case you are a newbie or haven’t been involved with RC for decades I’ll give you a brief history of this place. When I got into RC as a 13 year old kid Lake part had already made its mark in the history books hosting the Winter Champs annually with huge turnouts selling out. This was before the days of 10 classes to make 120 drivers convert to 400 entries, the classes were Stock Buggy, Mod Buggy, Stock Truck, Mod Truck, and Mod 4wd and drivers were limited to two classes and capped at 400 entries. With no lack of competition in any class the A Main was a very huge accomplishment and pretty much gave you a place in the history books. I remember being obsessed with the Team Associated RC Racing videos documenting the A Mains of all the big races that year. With the Winter Champs in Lake Park being the most dialed track I can remember from the videos. Everyone in the off road scene would talk about the high grip blue groove tracks in Florida and I was fascinated. Between the handful of skateboard videos I had and the Associated videos my parents VCR was pretty much always occupied. The main highlights to me were Masami Hirosaka’s blistering pace as he dominated 4wd, Huge Team Associated vs. Team Losi battles that everyone in the industry had a close eye on. Also speedcontroler battles between Novak, Tekin , and LRP came into play. The tire game was also getting underway with factory drivers getting sought after prototype tires and trying to get a grip on the fast changing track conditions. Many RC legends stamped their mark into history at this track such as Matt Francis, Cliff Lett, Barry Baker, Teemu Leino, Masami Hirosaka, Mark Pavidas, Rick Hohwart, Jay Halsey to name a few. Lake Park is also the location where many of the most popular Florida drivers got their first dose of exposure, such as a 9 year old JR Mitch who would shake up the A-Mains driving a Associated buggy and a Traxxas Stadium Truck. A young Ruffy Rios would always be in the mix battling for titles at the Winter Champs. Rob Michael, Paul Wynn, Ryan Eckert, and Jason Ruona are a few more industry veterans that spent time out at Lake Park during the infant stages of their careers.
There’s quite a bit happening here at Beachline Raceway, here’s just a few things to keep you updated on what’s going on. Also please check our calendar for the most up to date info regarding racing/practice dates and times
This Saturday will be the first race of our new series, Battle at the Beach. It’s a four race 1/10 electric series with one drop. We have quite a number of very generous sponsors who have come on board to help us make it great and we will be having some awesome raffle prizes to give away. This Saturday’s race will be the last race on our current layout as well, so it might be a good time for everyone who has this layout down to get off to a good start in the points.
Following this race we will be closed on Sunday, June 28th, while we put in a fresh new layout.
On July 4th weekend we will be hosting the Leadfinger Crown Race which encompasses a 1/10 electric race day on Saturday, the 4th and a 1/8 electric and nitro race day on Sunday, the 5th. Friday will be a practice day that will alternate between 1/10 and 1/8 practice. This is a yearly race put on by LFR that has always been fantastic and we are looking forward to this year’s race being the best yet. The race will be run on a brand new layout with a fresh pit lane. Camping is encouraged and will be great fun. Outside power hookups are available for rent as well.
Our host hotel is the La Quinta in Cocoa beach, ask for the Beachline rates when you make a reservation.

Stay tuned for more track updates in the coming weeks as we have more exciting announcements coming.
We’ve been working very hard on the facility and think everyone will be thrilled. Starting with the track, we’ve put in an entirely new layout featuring exciting jumps as well as high speed sections. The surface is smooth and gives great traction without sacrificing tire wear. We wanted to create a track layout and surface that is both fun and challenging while not causing racers to break the bank on their tire bill, allowing them to enjoy racing on a regular basis. Beyond the track, the entire facility has been cleaned, painted, and altered to give the maximum racing experience, from flat pit tables to a tire wash bin, we’ve tried to make the facility the very best. We have also added a stocked race store, featuring a large amount of racing products including kits, electronics, spare parts, and tires, all at a reasonable price. We aim to provide the full racing experience, on and off the track.
Weekly we will be open for 1/10 electric practice on Sunday, Thursday, and Friday. We will be racing 1/10 electric on Wednesday and Saturday of each week. Every one to two months we will have an entire week of 1/8 practice and racing, featuring both nitro and electric.
Grand Opening Race
On Saturday, February 28th, we will be holding our grand opening race. This will be open to everyone and feature 1/10 electric racing. We hope everyone is able to come out and enjoy our new track and get a glimpse of what the future of racing at Beachline Raceway will hold. We think everyone will be impressed with the new facility and will enjoy the entire experience.
Beachline Raceway is set to become the largest indoor track in the state of Florida. Superior Hobbies has taken over and is in the process of revamping the track and facility previously known as Space Coast R/C located in Cocoa, Florida. We hope to take the track to the next level in all aspects. From a track that everyone wants to race on to a top notch facility including a stocked hobby shop and fantastic pits.
The track has history as the staple of the off road racing scene in Florida, hosting some of the biggest races in the state as well as the 2014 1/10 ROAR 1/10 Electric Off-road Nationals. We hope to bring many more races and draw in racers of all levels.
Keep an eye out for the grand opening race which will be scheduled for early February. The track will be primed with a great multi dimensional layout and the facility will be ready to impress.
